SXSW Announces 200+ Showcase Bands for 2010

By Sarah on November 24, 2009

mu-logoAfter teasing us with a few featured bands recently, SXSW has released a list of over 200 showcase bands for this year’s festival.  It’s a lot of material to go through, and more information is forthcoming.  SXSW usually provides additional information and links to free mp3s for their featured bands, so keep an eye out for that, if you want to learn more about who you could possibly see at the festival.

Congratulations are in order for several Chicago (or thereabouts)  bands who will be performing: I Fight Dragons, Kidz in the Hall, Psalm One, and the Waco Brothers will all be making appearances.

On a quick scroll through, other bands I see on the list there that interest me include: Nicole Atkins and The Black Sea, The Boxer Rebellion, The Chevelles, The Crystal Method, Deer Tick, The 88, Fanfarlo, Ha Ha Tonka (who have their own Chicago connection, as they’re on Bloodshot Records), Robyn Hitchcock, Japandroids, Movits!, Peter Wolf Crier (who I’ll be seeing when he opens for Final Fantasy in January), Steve Poltz, Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, Trespassers William, We Are Scientists, and We Are Wolves.
