Hooray for Covers! La Santa Cecilia, “Tainted Love”

By Sarah on June 15, 2012

I discovered La Santa Cecilia on Twitter, after someone linked to a video featuring Elvis Costello and La Marisoul, the lead singer of La Santa Cecilia, performing “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”.  I could take Costello or leave him, but I instantly fell in love with Marisoul’s voice and had to do some Googling to find out more.

La Santa Cecilia is a Los Angeles based band which combines traditional Latin American music with modern rock and jazz.  I’m in love with their songs that lean more towards traditional music, but this cover of “Tainted Love” is pretty darn good, too.

Do yourself a favor and check out their website to hear snippets of their original music, which is incredibly captivating.  Tune in to my radio show on CHIRP Radio tonight, starting at 8 pm Central, to hear a song from their latest release, the El Valor EP.
